Betty Carter Peterson, 74, passed away September 7, 2016 in Ormond Beach, Florida due to complications from heart surgery.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Ollie and Lillian Brunson Carter and her brother, Dr. Stephen Carter.
Betty is survived by her husband of 42 years, John Albert Peterson, and their sons, Scott and Steve Peterson and her cousins, Judy McIntosh and Dianne Mears.

Over the years Betty and John lived in Houston, Texas, Rodgers, Arkansas, Spring, Texas, then retired to Ormond Beach. Betty was in the WMHS Class of 1960. She graduated from LSU with a major in Speech Therapy. Her greatest joy was the creation of her business Godfrey-Carter Design featuring her unique silver jewelry with her imaginative, fanciful designs.

John and Betty's life together was summed up Karen Traxler a dear friend and manager of Rose Assisted Living. "From the moment I was fortunate enough to meet Betty and John, I felt an instant connection. The kind that happens so rarely and is all the more precious because I was instantly saddened by the brevity of our friendship. I kept longing for the distance in miles to disappear, for visits to last longer and not be rushed by tasks and time. I will cherish the discussions we had about our faith in the Lord, his workings and paths in our lives. I think the one thing I will always remember is Betty's beautiful smile that seemed to shine right from her soul and wrap around you. Seeing Betty and John together was watching love personified. There was always a sense of mutual respect consideration, compassion, understanding, and love surrounding them. It was lovely to see! Thank you for touching my life in ways you will never know.
