A private memorial service for Betty Helms Closson age 84 of 27th Ave. New Smyrna Beach FL will be held by family members. Betty passed away on Tuesday May 16 2006 at the Bert Fish Medical Center in New Smyrna Beach. Born on April 8 1922 in Charleston W.VA. she married Bernard E. Closson on August 30 1937 and spent the next 68 ½ years of her life with him. Often they would be out fishing on their boat and she would be the ?Admiral? while Bernard was the ?Captain.? They also spent time together on the beach and dancing to ballroom style music with Bernard always ?dipping? her. Betty liked to read but most of all she loved family get-togethers and spending time with her large family. During WWII she worked at the Pentagon in Washington DC in the telecommunications department. In 1952 they moved from Kensington Maryland to Orlando FL then to New Smyrna Beach in 1969. Betty is survived by her loving husband Bernard and 6 daughters; Sandra K. Robert Hanak of Melbourne FL. Jan S. Barry Forde of Orlando FL Pam J. Nick Royer of Orlando FL. Vicke L. Arevalos of Rockledge FL. Judy L. Morin of Melbourne FL. and Becky J. Steve Wood of New Smyrna Beach FL. There are also 16 grandchildren 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
