Betty J. Applegate 80 of Deland Fla. died Tuesday April 9 2013 at the Oakwood Garden Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born in Adams County Ohio on Jan. 26 1933 to the late Herbert and Ada (Brown) Blythe.

She retired from the Hercules Trouser Company after 36 years of employment was a former member of the Eastern Star an ordained minister a sub pastor and a former member of the Manchester Church of the Nazarene a member of the Pine Valley Christian Church of Tollesboro and a member of the Open Door Christian Church of Deland Fla.

She is survived by her husband James Applegate of Deland Fla.; a son Bill (Trish) Shelton of Manchester Ohio; daughter Lena (J.D.) Bradford of Lake Waynoka Ohio; stepchildren. Dennis Applegate of Deland Fla. Jerry Applegate of Aberdeen Ohio Bonnie Condorodis of Ormand Beach Fla. Richard ""Red"" Applegate of Ripley Ohio and Randy Applegate of Maysville; a brother Herbert Blythe of Manchester Ohio; six grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Clarence Shelton in 1987.

Services 1 p.m. Tuesday April 16 2013 at Wilson Home for Funerals. Rev. Phil Cropper will be officiating.

Burial will follow in the Manchester Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
