Betty Morris Altamore 87 of Daytona Beach entered into eternal life at 1:50 a.m. Wednesday August 13 2008 at Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach.
A memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday August 23 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon) at 1125 6th street in Holly Hill. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler.
Betty was born on August 7 1921 the daughter of Michael and Dora (Meier) Morris. She was united in marriage to Victor E. Altamore on March 11 1959. She achieved RN in Baltimore Maryland her BS degree at the University of Rochester her MS at the University of Cincinnati at the time during her marriage she was working on her PHD at Johns Hopkins. Betty was retired from the public schools in Rochester where she helped to qualify the science departments in the public schools. She also worked as an assistant professor at the University of Rochester. She was a director of the school of Nursing in Cincinnati OH and a director of the school of nursing Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington DC. Memberships include New Smyrna Beach Shrinettes She served as queen of Athaliah temple Daughters of Nile in Orlando and was also the secretary for the organization for many years.
Betty was survived by her loving husband Victor of 49 years; daughter: Roberta L. (husband Michael) Mandell of Roy Utah; grandchildren: Mark and Madison Mandell brother: Robert L. (wife Jacqueline) Morris of Rockville Maryland; Sisters-in-law: Jean (husband Warren) Ehrlich of Daytona Beach Shores Lori (husband Louis) Bruno-Sforza of Massachusetts; several nieces nephews grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
