A memorial service for Beth Alice Reynolds Dillard 69 of Ormond Beach FL who passed away on February 4 2008 will be held at 2:00pm Friday February 8 2008 at Lohman Funeral Home 733 W. Granada Blvd Ormond Beach with the family receiving friends from 1:00 to 2:00pm. Beth was born on May 3 1938 in Westport CT. Her mother was Helen Bonson Reynolds and her father was E. Mel Reynolds. She moved to Daytona Beach in 1952 and graduated from Maitland High School in 1956. She received her RN degree from the Orange Memorial Hospital Nursing School in Orlando in 1959 and moved to Gainesville FL where she worked as a nurse at the J. Hillis Miller Health Center (University of Florida College of Medicine) and attended classes at the University of Florida. While working at the health center she met her husband to be Dr. Richard L. Dillard who was serving a surgical internship. They were married on September 10 1960 at the First Presbyterian Church in Daytona Beach. Beth spent the next 15 years caring for her three children and was active in the Volusia County Medical Auxiliary. In 1980 she returned to nursing as a home care nurse and was subsequently supervisor at Health Care Inc. On her retirement from that position she worked in her husband's office until their mutual retirement in 1999. Beth was accomplished in needle point and produced numerous wall murals table settings for her daughters and daughters-in-law and customized birth announcements for each of her grandchildren. Many friends were fortunate enough to receive personalized needle point artwork as Christmas gifts. She is survived by her husband of 47 years Dr. Richard L. Dillard; her sons: Richard R. Dillard & his wife Anita of Greenbriar TN and Mark E. Dillard & his wife Sheri of Atlanta GA; her daughter Robin Lynn Dillard Raffa & her husband Timothy of Atlanta and her sister Susan Reynolds Little & her husband Dr. H. Ganse Little of Amherst Mass along with six nephews. She was the proud and beloved "Grandma" to nine grandchildren. Beth and Richard were avid travelers and particulary enjoyed vacations with each all of their grandchildren.
