Beryl M. Pomerenke, 93 of Ormond Beach, Florida passed away peacefully on March 6, 2014.
Preceded by her husband, Robert and sister, Doreen Reeson. She is survived by her sister, Wendy Davies of Suffolk, England, a brother, Dennis Odgear of London England, her sons; Graham Pomerenke and his wife Debbie of Coventry, CT; Robert Pomerenke and his wife, Melissa Penland, of Ormond Beach, FL; her daughter, Vivien Dec and her husband James, of Bristol, CT; four grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
During World War II, Beryl served with the Women's Land Army and Timber Corp in England. She moved to Connecticut as a young bride from her home in England in 1946, where she raised her family and began her nursing profession. During her career, she was instrumental in the development of the Central Treatment area of New Britain General Hospital. She worked diligently as a nurse into her late 70's.
Beryl enjoyed her retirement while living in Ormond by the Sea. She especially enjoyed the outdoors and was fond of all the flowers of the seasons. She was an avid UConn basketball and Red Sox baseball fan, following the scores diligently.

A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, March 10, 2014 at 4:30pm at the Ormond Memorial Gardens, 78 E. Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach, FL 32176.
