Bertha V. Shankland age 102 of Daytona Beach passed away on October 6 2011.
A Visitation will be held at Union Congregational Church 1050 Daytona Avenue
Holly Hill FL 32117 from 9:30am until the time of service at 10:30am. Burial will take place at St. Mary's Union Cemetery in Silver Run Maryland next week.
Bertha was born in Silver Run Maryland on May 24 1909 to the late Alvin G. Dutterer Sr. and Ada A. Bowersox Dutterer. She was the last surviving of her nine siblings. Bertha was the wife of the late Rev. Louis M. King who served for 25 years in churches in Pennsylvania. They were married for 27 years. After Rev. King's passing in 1956.Bertha remarried to Claude Shankland in 1963 and retired to the Daytona area in 1965.
She was a member of the Union Congregational Church of Holly Hill and former charter member of the Port Orange United Church of Christ. She enjoyed gardening sewing needle point cooking baking and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her beloved daughter Jeanne L. King many extended family members and lots loving friends. Arrangements are under the entrusted care of Cardwell Funeral Home.
