Bertha was born in Cuba to a close knit and loving family. Seeking opportunity, she arrived in Daytona Beach in 1960 to be with her sister and brother-in-law (Dora and Julian). She was born to the late Everisto and Marina Garcia.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raul Sr. and her son, Raul Jr. and siblings Bernardina, Tomas, and Eloisa.

Bertha worked as a seamstress after earning her seamstress certificate in Cuba. She had a great touch and creative vision. Seeking opportunity in America, and with her sister Dora expecting her first child, Bertha made the trek to Daytona to be there for her sister and begin a new adventure. Helping raise Julian Jr. and Nancy, she also worked alongside her family in the Tropics and Julian's restaurant maintaining the office operations with her sister until 2006 when she retired. She was meticulous with details, dependable, loyal, kind, sharp as a tack and brought joy to all who met her.

Bertha enjoyed spending time with family in Florida and North Carolina. It gave her great joy to watch her daughter Bertica, granddaughter Gaby, nieces, nephews and her extended family members pursue their dreams and grow. She loved going to Chick-Fil-A and Tomoka Christian Church with her sister. She was your cheerleader in person, on the phone or through FaceTime. She loved to hear your story and tell a few. Nothing got by her watchful eye. You knew she was on the journey with you no matter where you were in the world. She lived to love and encourage all who came her way.  Whenever she could attend a sporting event or family gathering she was the ultimate fan, ray of sunshine and probably stirring up a little mischief in good fun. Bertha will be remembered as our "Titi" whose sense of humor and care-giver heart brightened the lives she touched. She loved her some Jesus and is now home with her Lord.

She is survived by her daughter, Bertica; granddaughter, Gaby; sister, Dora; sister, Catalina (Tito); nephew, Julian Jr.; nieces Nancy (Wayne), Maria, Sonia (Russell), Xiomie (Ray); nephew Bernie; and several grand nieces, nephews and extended family whom she adored and brought her much joy.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 2nd, between 4-6PM at Lohman's Funeral Home, 733 W. Granada Blvd., Ormond Beach, FL 32174 .  A Celebration of Life will be held at 11AM Thursday, February 3rd at Tomoka Christian Church, 1450 Hand Ave. Ormond Beach, FL 32174 .  Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, 143 Seton Trail, Ormond Beach, FL 32176 .

The family requests that all who attend be mindful and wear a mask and keep social distance.  For those unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed on (TBD).
