On Wednesday, September 1 st Bertha Delores (Bert)Harrison departed this life at the age of 78. Bertha was the only child born in Washington DC on October 19, 1942, to Eugene and Mozelle Sarders. She was a graduate of Spingarn High School. In 1960 she was married and from that union had three daughters Victoria, Anita, and Leila. Later she had her fourth daughter, Lashawn.
She worked for both the District and Federal Govt. and after retiring in 1998 she moved to Palm Coast, Florida a few years later in 2003. There she became a member of the Black Catholic Guild at St. Elizabethan Ann Seton Catholic Church. In addition, she served as a Backstage Manager for the Motown Production and volunteered her services for additional productions in Palm Coast. An avid reader she was also a member of the Gourmet Book Club. Since moving to Palm Coast, Florida she inherited an extended family of friends with whom she enjoyed playing cards, traveling, attending movies, etc.
She enjoyed traveling, cooking and spending holidays with her family. She looked forward to receiving family and friends at her home in Florida. A beautiful spirit, she loved life, celebrations and laughter. She was known to help anyone in need and gave the best advice to all and "always told them exactly what they should do".
She's survived by her four daughters, seven grandchildren Wendy, Theo, Angie, Leila, James, Janita, Jonathan and a host of cousins, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her devoted friend, Clarence Carey the love of her life.
Visitation will be held Thursday September 16, 2021, from 4pm to 7pm and A Memorial Service will be Friday September 17, 2021, from 1pm to 3pm in the chapel at Lohman Funeral Home Palm Coast, 220 Palm Coast Parkway SW, Palm Coast, FL 32137.
