Bernice Stricker Selover, age 95 was born in Woodbridge, NJ to the late August H. and Catherine Stricker. Married to Edwin H. Selover for 68 years until his death in 2012, Bernice graduated from New Brunswick High School. She was an active member of the Student Council and President of the Senior Class of 1940. Bernice graduated from Miss Dunham's Secretarial School and was employed at E.R. Squibb & Sons in the Industrial Relations Department. During WWII, her duties were expanded to include supervising and obtaining car rationing for employees and doctors. She sang in the St. James Methodist Church choir, under the direction of Grace Strycker, and performed in many holiday concerts at the NJ College for Women.

Upon Edwin's return from WWII, they built their first home in Lawrence Brook Manor, which was part of the original farmland and home of Edwin's grandfather, Henry Selover. The Lawrence Brook Manor Country Club was eventually built on this site as well. Bernice became a member of the First Baptist Church of New Brunswick, NJ, where schoolmate Dorothy Gilman's father was minister. The two sang in the choir and continued a lifelong friendship. She was a charter member of the East Brunswick Women's Club, serving several years as Garden Chairman. She was also very active in the local PTA's of Wade Weston's Mills and Lawrence Brook Manor Schools, and a very successful fundraiser and supporter of the Deborah Heart & Lung Hospital in Browns Mills, NJ.

In 1980, the family permanently moved to their 1968 winter home in Vero Beach, FL., where she was again very active in the community organizations such as: The NJ Club, Vero Health & Country Club, Vero Chapter of AARP and Deborah Heart & Lung Hospital.

Bernice leaves an afterglow of smiles and happy memories now that life is done. She had a way of making all days seem bright and sunny, filled with love, laughter and many good times which will remain with us forever. She is survived by sons Richard and Gary, grandson Brian, Michael and Paul, great granddaughters Josie, Taylor, Ella Grace, and Katie Susan.

Bernice wants the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun returns again.
