Obituary

Bernice (Bunny) Baylor Buckles 81 of Ormond Beach passed from this life on the evening of Friday January 15 2010. She was surrounded by family who were blessed to be with her. Bunny was born in Holly Hill Florida on October 16 1928 to John Jefferson and Florence Roberts Baylor the middle child of seven children in a loving family. She was a devoted Mother Grandmother (affectionately called "This'n") Great-grandmother and a friend who touched the lives of many people with her quick sense of humor and love of life Bunny was a graduate of Mainland Senior High school and took great pride in being a volunteer Airplane and Submarine Spotter for the US Military during WWII. Bunny also worked for Western Union during that time and enjoyed her job immensely. She later married and moved to Brunswick Georgia where she worked as a Legal Secretary for Glynn County Court Judge Cogdell. Her employment career included many years as a Medical Office Administrator followed by her volunteering at the Ormond Memorial Hospital upon her return to this area. Bunny was a long time member of the Riviera Country Club and was a diverse woman of many talents. She enjoyed bowling and sailing and was a participant in many exclusive amateur golf tournaments. She was blessed with the company of dear friends affectionately referred to as her "Posse". Most of all she loved spending time with her children grandchildren and her great-granddaughter Alicia. She loved being near the ocean. Her parents and 3 siblings; Donald Baylor Dewey Baylor and Doris Dills preceded her in death. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children; David S. Buckles PhD of Silver Spring MD and Connie Sue Hallowes and her husband Borden of St. Augustine FL 2 grandsons; Brian (Jackie) Mrachek and Chris (Robyn Winkler) Esser 2 great grandchildren; Alicia and Johnny 2 brothers; Guy (Doris) Baylor and Bill (Patsy) Baylor a sister Bonnie Jane (Jim) Garmon and many loving extended family and friends. . A 1:00PM gathering of family and friends followed by a 2:00PM memorial service in her honor will be held at the Ormond Beach Chapel of the Lohman Funeral Home on Friday January 22nd.
