Bernard Anthony Barettella, 91, of Port Orange, FL passed away on April 29, 2024. He was born on March 25, 1933, in Fairview, NJ to Angelo & Jennie (nee Alfano) Barettella. He is predeceased in death by the love of his life, his wife, Dolores Barettella, his parents, his sisters Rose, Josephine (Birdsall), and Camilla (Thomason), his son-in-law Vincent Picca. He is survived by his son, Dr. Mark B. Barettella (Wendy), daughters Donna M. Picca and Debra A. Pelzer (Frank) grandchildren Vincent D. Picca, Matthew C. Picca (Kayla), Daniel T. Picca, Brendan F. Pelzer, Kaitlin P. Pelzer, and great grandchildren Roman Picca and Rocco Picca. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. Bernard (Bernie) worked as a textile mechanic most of his life and later owned and operated a textile manufacturing plant in Guttenberg, New Jersey. He enjoyed tinkering, and repairing things, was an inventor and held several U.S. patents. He loved to be busy. His lifelong hobbies of fishing and crabbing supplied fun experiences to share with his kids. He most especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He served, with Dolores, as an usher and adorer at the Catholic Church of the Epiphany in Port Orange, Florida for many years.
Funeral Mass will be held at the Catholic Church of the Epiphany, 201 Lafayette St. Port Orange, FL May 10, 2024 at 11:00
The family requests in lieu of flowers any remembrances of Bernie Barettella be made in his name to the Catholic Church of the Epiphany.
