Obituary

Bernadette Ann (nee Klusman) Ciastko died Thursday March 3 2011 following a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was 69.

Bernadette leaves behind her loving and devoted husband of 48 years Rudolph; son Matthew; and daughters Laura Tompkins and Jennifer LaFave. Bernadette was proud of her six beautiful and healthy grandchildren: Jake Tompkins Ava Tompkins; Ryan Ciastko Heather Ciastko-Walker; Veronica Ciastko and Rudy LaFave. Although her adored father Michael (""Mick"") Klusman preceded her in death in 1977 Bernadette's mother Margaret Klusman and two brothers Richard and Michael Klusman are saddened by the loss of such a funny strong and loving woman.

Bernadette was an active and happy resident of Bear Creek Estates in Ormond Beach FL since 2005. She was President of the Social Club in 2007-2009. Bernadette loved playing Bingo cards Yahtzee and solving crossword puzzles.

Born in the East Falls neighborhood of Philadelphia PA Bernadette attended St. Bridgit's School and was graduated from Little Flower Catholic High School for Girl in 1959. Bernadette attended Peirce Business School following graduation. She then followed her dream of becoming a stewardess where she worked for Eastern Airlines in the early 1960's. It was there she met her future husband Rudy. Raising her family was paramount to her. The family settled in Drexel Hill PA and Bernadette began working only part-time as a secretary in the Radiology Department of Delaware County Memorial Hospital.

Bernadette's friends and extended family include loved ones in Delaware Pennsylvania New Jersey New York Connecticut Indiana Illinois Missouri Colorado Georgia and Florida. A memorial service will be held in Bernadette's honor at the Clubhouse at Bear Creek Estates in Ormond Beach FL on Saturday March 19th at 2:00 p.m.
