Evenios "Benny" Corbin 77 passed away July 17 2011 at Stuart F. Myer Hospice House. Visitation will be held on Sunday July 24thth at Lohman Funeral Home; 722 W. Granada Blvd Ormond Beach between the hours of 12-2 pm with funeral services beginning at 2:00 pm. A short track racing pioneer Benny built New Smyrna Speedway Volusia Speedway Park and Ocala Speedway and promoted all three for several years he also raced midgets and sprints in Indiana. Before moving to Florida in 1964 Benny was a Korean War veteran and a P.O.W. He was a loving husband father and friend to everyone that knew him. He will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched and a lot of racers who never knew him "I'm sure he is building a new racetrack in heaven already". The racing world has truly lost a real legend. Benny was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Flossie Mae Corbin. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his siblings Helen Vina James Marie Charles Richard Dale and Donald his children Rhonda (Rick) Bathurst and Kent (Christie) Corbin his grandchildren Ricky and Ryan Bathurst Jessica (Chris Hancock) Lanich Dalton Lanich great-grandchildren Leigha and Sarah and hundreds of friends all over the country.
