Rawls Benjamin Haskel. The funeral service for Dr. Benjamin H. Rawls 94 who died at home Sunday will be held at Indigo Community Church 950 Williamson Blvd. Wednesday September 1 2004 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be at the Lohman Ormond Funeral Home 733 West Granada Tuesday evening 6:00 ? 8:00 p.m. Dr. Rawls was born in Covington County Alabama the tenth and youngest child of Julia Bell and John Morgan Rawls. He earned his doctor of veterinary medicine degree from Auburn University and practiced for 50 years in Daytona Beach beginning in October 1933. During WW II he served the Army in Georgia Louisiana Nebraska and later overseas in France and the Philippines. He was best known in the community for his veterinary hospital at 127 East Mason. As the regional dairies were replaced with housing developments his practice became primarily small animal. Over the years he treated practically every kind of animal including snakes birds kangaroos and elephants. An avid golfer he played into his 90?s. He was a member of Indigo Community Church Halifax Lodge 81 Scottish Rite Bodies Bahai Shrine Florida Veterinary Medical Association the American Veterinary Medical Association Daytona Beach Rotary Club and Moose Club charter member. Dr. Rawls is survived by his wife of 63 years Faye Langford Rawls; three sons Benjamin Haskel Rawls Jr. Ormond Beach; John Morgan Rawls III wife Linda Tharp Rawls Opp Alabama; and Andrew Bernard Rawls wife Malinda Woerner Rawls Louisville Kentucky; two sisters; Bertha Campbell Apopka Florida; Alice Rogers; Red Level Alabama. Grandsons: Morgan Rawls Stanley Rawls Charles Rawls Louis Rawls and Christopher Rawls. Great grandson: Ryan Rawls.
