Barry Hendra, 66, of Port Orange, passed away suddenly on Saturday, June 18, 2011. A service in his honor will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 27, at the Harry J. Will Funeral Home Redford Chapel, 25450 Plymouth Rd., Redford, Michigan. Interment and military honors will follow at North Farmington Cemetery, Farmington Hills. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Barry was born in Detroit, Michigan to Ray and Helen Hendra. He graduated from Macomb Community College, was a proud US Marine veteran of Vietnam War, and dedicated his life's work as a fire fighter for the City of Detroit and was a member of the Detroit Fire Fighters Association Local 344.

He was a quite, kind, considerate gentleman who loved swimming, bicycling, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

He leaves behind his wife Carolyn Hendra; a step-daughter Kim Ferrise; and three sons by marriage: Darrell (Deborah) Ledford, Dale (Susan) Ledford, and Dean Ledford; nine grandsons; two grand-daughters; six great-grandchildren; and many loving neighbors and friends.
