Barbara Anne Webb (née Ames), age 85, formerly of Springfield, OH, Seymore, IN and Deland, FL passed away Thursday, March 26, 2020.  Barbara graduated in 1952 from Tampico High School in Tampico, IN.  She attended Business School in Columbus, IN after High School.  This schooling was foundational to her work career as a civilian employee at Camp Atterbury Military Base in Edinburgh, IN and retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Fairborn, OH in 1989 with a rank of GS4 after 20 plus years.  At age 47 she went back to school again earning multiple credits from Sinclair University in Dayton, OH where these studies aided in her second working career helping support her family as a court reporter, stenographer.

Foremost in her life though was family and home.  Always in attendance at her children's extra-curricular and sporting activities and frequently visiting extended out of state family with her own family in tow.  She was principled in values and work ethic and both practiced and taught these principles to her children.

In retirement she found a talent of writing for personal enjoyment.  She also loved 'antiquing' as an antique dish collector and operated various vendor booth locations in the North Vernon, IN area.  She enjoyed spending winters in Florida with her sister Carol Jean for many years, and the remaining months as a resident of Seymore, IN.  Barbara was a lifelong lover of cats and in retirement was commonly known to discover and take strays to the shelter for spay or neuter treatment and found forever homes for her furry friends.


Barbara was born June 8 th ,1934 in Westport, IN to the parents of James Merrill Ames and Ethel Ames Cooper of Westport and Tampico, IN respectively.  Survivors include son, Jeffrey Webb; son, Brad Webb and his wife Joyce) all of Springfield, OH; daughter, Alysia (Webb) Ruddy and her husband Bill of Ormond Beach, FL; 3 grandsons, Sean Corey Webb of Mechanicsburg, OH; Claten & Daniel Webb of Springfield, OH; sister Carol Jean Deaton (Larison); sister, Shelia Mills, both of North Vernon, IN; sister, Shonda Ames Filson of Modesto, CA;  brothers David & Garnett Cooper of Seymore, IN & Paris Crossings IN. respectively.  And numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents. Also by a younger sister, Janice Kay Cooper.  And by her beloved husband Lester T. Webb for nearly 30 years prior to his passing in 1994.


The family will have memorial service to take place later in the spring of 2020, to be held in Westport, Indiana.
