Barbara M. Simpson 79 beloved momma and grandmother passed away on April2 2013 with her children by her side. A funeral service for Barbara will be held Saturday April 6 2013 at 10:00am at the Lohman Funeral Home Daytona. Visitation for Barbara will be Friday April 5 2013 from the hours of 6pm-8pm. Interment to follow service on Saturday at Daytona Memorial Park. Barbara was born July 4 1933 to Lewis and Mildred Meadows. She grew up in Holly Hill. She was a 1951 graduate of Mainland High School and a 1955 graduate of Florida State University. She married the love of her life and soul mate David on Lookout Mountain Tennessee on September 22 1956. She and David built a home family and life in Holly Hill residing next door to her childhood home.
Though for from being a millionaire Momma believed herself to be one of the richest and most fortunate human beings in the world. She lived a simple life with her devoted husband and children. She attended Sunday services at Union Congregational United Church of Christ at Holly Hill sharing her time and artistic talents. She dearly loved " her little church". She spent her life caring selflessly for her entire family and others. For many years Momma cared for children in her home. She loved each and every child that was fortunate enough to be in her care. Her claim to fame was her grandchildren whom she dearly loved and adored. There was nothing she did not and would not do for them. She was a happy person and passed on her love of life through her laghter. The silence of her laughter is deafening and lonely. In passing she has been reunited with her parents and husband of 48 years. Left behind to cherish her memory is her son Matthew ( Lisa) Simpson Ormond Beach; her daughters Melinda ( Norman) Ferris Ormond Beach; Margaret (John) Stumberger; her grandchildren Sara (Zackery) Simcox Katie Ferris Andrew Ferris Ethan Simpson Ashley Simpson Allyson Simpson; her granddogs (a team she found "so silly") Dakota Chance Bella Jake Maisy and Maverick; 3 step- grandchildren; 1 step great grandchild; 1 sister Mary Margaret Franklin Holly Hill.
