Barbara A. (Baylis) Lunde age 89 of Port Orange passed away on April 10 2011. Barbara was born on June 21 1921 in Inwood New York. She was the youngest child of Daniel Morrell and Barbara (Tepe) Baylis. She graduated from Lawrence High School in 1939. In 1943 she married Steen Lunde at Russell Sage Church in Far Rockaway New York. Barbara was a homemaker until her children were grown; she worked in the cafeteria in Lawrence High School until 1974 when she and her husband Steen retired to community affairs. In 1993 she was named Citizen of the Year by the Citizens for Ponce Inlet for her outstanding service in the community. She was a charter member of the Garden Club a member of the Ponce Inlet Woman's Club and was past Regent of the local chapter of the Daughter's of the American Revolution. She moved to Port Orange in 1994. She volunteered at Hospice of Volusia / Flagler for 13 years and was actively involved in Colony in the Wood the community in which she resided as well as TOPS and the Red Hat Society. Barbara's hobbies included baking making dolls teddy bears ceramics painting gardening crossword puzzles and she was an avid reader. Barbara is survived by four children: Steen A. Lunde and his wife Cathy; Sidney A. Michaels and her husband Ronald S. Sciepko; Janice K. Lunde; and Lisa K. Armstrong and her husband Chad. She is survived by five grandchildren and five great grandchildren and her beloved cat Chip. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Steen; her sisters Doris Hoffman and Ruth Larson and her brother Elias Baylis. A memorial service will be planned for later in the year.
Barbara said on more than one occasion that she had a "wonderful life" and was lucky to have many good friends. She will be remembered by her family and friends as a go-getter who was always there to lend a hand.
