IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara Jean
Gammon
March 19, 1938 – February 19, 2025
Barbara Jean Gammon, age 86, went home to Jesus on February 19, 2025 at the Halifax Hospice House in Ormond Beach. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Donald Aubrey Gammon. She was born and raised in Miami, Florida. She graduated from Miami Senior High School in 1956 and Stetson University in 1960 with a Bachelor of Education.
Along her life journey, Barbara was a teacher at heart. She was very active in her community of faith at First Baptist Church of Hialeah, Florida where she taught Sunday school classes for children, led Vacation Bible School classes, and started a Young Adult Class that emphasized Bible Study and fellowship times. In addition, she enjoyed playing in the handbell choir.
Moreover, she was an encouraging and supportive person to the ministerial staff with fervent prayers for them and hosting them for Sunday afternoon dinners on special church holidays and other occasions.
Anyone who knew or talked to Barbara knew she was a strong person of faith who loved and served her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Her faith was a vital part of her life and she bore witness to it every day. Upon their retirement, Barbara and Don made friends in each of their churches and neighborhoods in Central Florida. Truly, Barbara will be sorely missed in all the places she lived and most of all as the unofficial ambassador at Paradise Pointe where she welcomed new residents, encouraged and prayed for nurses and caregivers, and shared her faith in God unashamedly.
She is survived by her children, Robert Aubrey Gammon (Susan) and Darlinda Gammon Copeland; grandchildren, Trevor Copeland (Chelsy), Meagan Copeland Arrington (Zane), Stephanie Gammon Blum (Michael), David Gammon, and Michael Gammon; great-grandchildren, Tanner Matthew Copeland, Carlei Ann Copeland, Tori Jean Copeland, Aubrey James Arrington, and Jayce Aldon Copeland; brother, Jon Ed Mullins (Sally); sister, Karen Mullins; and nephews, Ron Allen Mullins (Karyn), Craig Mullins (Karen), Ross Mullins (Sherry), and Jay Mullins (Rebecca). She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Novella Mullins, and her brother, Richard Mullins.
A visitation with the family will be held from 3-4 pm at Providence Church,1151 W Granada Blvd, Ormond Beach, FL 32174, with the service following at 4pm.
