IN LOVING MEMORY OF
August Joseph
Alombro, Jr.
November 4, 1978 – January 23, 2025
Retired U.S. Army 1st Sgt., August Joseph Alombro, Jr. passed away unexpectedly on the afternoon of Thursday, January 23, at his home in New Smyrna Beach, FL.
He is survived by his loving wife, Alison; his son, August Joseph III (A.J.); and his daughter, Palmer Rae. He also leaves behind his parents, Dorothy and August Joseph Alombro of Edgewater, FL; his sister, Tiffany, and brother-in-law, Steven Moscufo, along with their children, Ella Josephine, Tessa Kathrine, and Austin Craig, of Davidson, NC. August is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his son, Peyton, as well as his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Born on November 4, 1978, in Metairie, Louisiana, August graduated from Lake Brantley High School in Altamonte Springs, FL, in 1997. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in June 2000, embarking on a distinguished career that spanned over two decades. August was a two-time recipient of the Bronze Star Medal, along with numerous other medals and commendations. Over the course of his service, he completed six deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. His final assignment was in Greenville, SC, where he served as a Senior Military Science Instructor for the ROTC program at Furman University.
After nearly 22 years of dedicated service, August retired from the Army in February 2022. In the summer of 2023, he relocated with his family to New Smyrna Beach, FL. At the time of his passing, he was working as a Senior Military Consultant for the Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training, and Instrumentation in Orlando, FL.
August dedicated his life to service—both to his country and, above all, to his family. He had a long and distinguished military career, serving with honor and dedication. Yet, despite his many achievements, his greatest joy and first love was always his wife and three children. Whether at home or abroad, his heart remained with his family, and he lived each day with unwavering love, strength, and commitment to them.
