AUDREY DILLARD OTTENSTEIN, affectionately known as "Aud" and "Miss Aud", age 86, of 2200 No. Atlantic Avenue, Daytona Beach, died Monday, March 9, 2015. Her funeral service will be held at 10am, Monday, March 16, 2015 at Central Baptist Church, 152 Fairview Ave., Daytona Beach. Her family will receive friends from 10am - 11am prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Greenwood Cemetery, 22 Haselton Rd., Eustis, FL.
Aud moved to the Daytona Beach area from Eustis, FL in 1961. She was an active citrus grower in Lake County for 30 years until the freeze of 1983. She owned and operated Strong's Sporting Good and Johnson Motors in Eustis and was chosen 1 of 24 dealers out of 1,400 for sales growth in a given period based upon enthusiasm for product, promotion of product and all around aggressiveness.

She owned and operated the Talk of the town Daytona cocktail lounge in Daytona Beach from 1968 through 1978 which Car and Driver magazine described as one of the top clubs in the area. She worked in real estate for Woody Lee realty, Ben Horn Realty, Adams Cameron Realty and Centex Corp. As a notary public for 30 years, she performed weddings for several couples in this area. She was a member of Oceanside County Club including the women's 9-hole and 18-hole golf association, a life member of the Halifax Club, Palmetto Club, Halifax River Yacht club where she served as Entertainment Chairman 1994, (she started the birthday night) 2001, & 2007 and was a charter member of Pine Meadows Country Club in Eustis. She was also an officer and member of the Ormond Beach Women's Club, the Ormond Beach Historical Society, Museum of Arts and Sciences, Museum Guild, Tillandsia Garden Club, Casement Guild, and Ormond Beach Emblem Club. She was a past member of Ormond Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Past President of Tomoka Oaks Nine Hole Assoc. and Past President of Epsilon Sigma Alpha. A member of the LSO Guild and in 2005 was a CALENDER GIRL for the Guild bolstered and help raise money for WORC for 18 years, supported many organizations giving her time and monetary support. She was on the board of the Gemini Condominium and also the board of the Aliki Condominium's she stared the Ho Ho Girls which every Xmas raised toys so the Volusia County children would not go without Xmas. The list of things she did for others without anyone knowing was endless. She loved her family, friends, and her life even though in growing up suffered many hardships and was raised in foster homes. She was self-educated, but there wasn't any job too big for her to tackle During the second World War she was a weather girl in Juneau, Alaska; she decoded the weather and sent it to our bases in the Alution Islands.
She enjoyed golf, bridge, and was an enthusiastic world traveler. She enjoyed yachting for many years with her husband Joe, and at age 78 she learned to captain her own 51' yacht. She supported many philanthropic causes within the greater Volusia County community.
She was predeceased by her husband Charles Dillard, two sons Michael and Charles (Thumper) Dillard and husband and best friend Joseph Ottenstein. She is survived by a daughter Reva Cunningham Weller, Astor; son, Dr. Floyd (Beaver) Dillard, Eustis; step daughter Karen O. Ruberti and son-in-law Bruce Ruberti of Longwood; step son, Karl Ottenstein and daughter -in-law Karen Ottenstein, Bozeman, MT. She leaves 11 grandchildren; Gary (G.R.) Cunningham, Lori Pierce, Jason Dillard, Bryan Dillard, Alexander ( Zander) Dillard, Amianne Ashworth, Trevor Ashworth, Haley Ashworth, Gavin ( Bo) Ashworth, Alexander Ruberti and Rye Baerg, and four great grand children, AJ Cunningham, Mackenzie Cunningham and Jordan Dillard and Kaleigh Pierce. Donations may be made to the Halifax Humane Society, 2364 LPGA Blvd, Daytona Beach, FL. Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Ormond.
