Graveside Services for Arthur Art Downing Stickler age 89 of Ormond Beach who passed away on Monday November 24th will be held on Friday November 28th at 10:00 a.m. at Volusia Memorial Park.

Arthur was born in Lansford PA the youngest of seven children. He attended Stanfield Business College and Benjamin Franklin University in Washington DC. He worked various technical electrical and supervisory positions for the United States Naval Department for 35 years before retiring as a Branch Head in NAVSEC Navel Ships Engineering Center.

Arthur was known for his self-starting qualities. He was hard-working dependable and capable. He received numerous awards and commendations over the period of years working for the government. It was aptly stated by Rear Admiral HC Mason in his retirement commendation ?You have earned a reputation of excellence both in the Navy and industrial circles for your vast technical knowledge and judgment ... Yours is also a record of repetitive sustained superior performance commendations and cost reduction program participation.?

In his retirement years Arthur and his family enjoyed traveling taking several cruises to East West and Southern Caribbean Islands Alaska and Panama. He also traveled with his trailer and boat to Nevada California and Oregon. Arthur also loved the gym where he faithfully attended.

He is survived by his loving wife Betty; his three daughters Kim Pyle of Ormond Beach FL; Margo Rash of Reston VA; and Janice Harvey of Clermont FL; eight grandchildren including Craig who was close to him until his death; and several great grandchildren.
