It is with great sadness that the family of  Arthur Lewis Dewey, 81, announce his  passing on Sunday, March 16, 2025 after a long illness.

Arthur was born in Greenville, North Carolina and was raised in Westchester, Pennsylvania.  He served 6 years in the United States Navy serving in Spain and Guam, and attended Nuclear Power School.

After his naval service, he moved to Long Island, New York and attended Farmingdale State College and received his Associates Degree.

Arthur spent much of his time working to support his family, leaving little time for outside diversions.  He worked at American Technical Ceramics in Hunting Station, New York for 45 years as an Electrical Engineer.  He also worked a second job on evenings and weekends at Pathmark for over 20 years.

In retirement, Arthur found more time for hobbies.  He enjoyed spending time making counted cross-stitch pictures for family and playing sudoku puzzles.  He collected railroad memorabilia throughout his life.  He also enjoyed collecting playing card sets and pins from the different places he visited while traveling.  During quieter moments, he would relax in his recliner surrounded by Bitsy, his beloved Yorkie, and their cats.

Arthur is survived by his wife of 52 years, Helen (née Blau ), his son, Christopher (Nancy) Dewey, and daughters, Susan (Annie) Dewey, Melissa Dewey,  Cherie Ridley, and grandchildren Christopher Dewey, Thomas Dewey and Vivian Ridley.  He is also survived by his sister, Betty Rigler.

Arthur is predeceased by his parents, Vivian and Jean Dewey, brothers Donald Dewey, John Dewey, Allen Dewey and son-in-law Jeffrey Ridley.

A private celebration of his life will take place after his cremation.
