We are sad to announce the passing of our dear dad, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend Arnold Kump.
Arnold Kump, 84 passed away on July 19, 2022 while on vacation in Massachusetts.
He was born on July 30, 1937 in Lachina, Gottschee in Slovenia; left Slovenia during WWII at the age of 6 with his father Frank, his mother Marie, and brother Erwin, and resettled in Wagna, Austria. He came to New York City in 1950 at the age of 13. He attended St. Bridgit grammar school, St Francis High School, St. John's University in New York City and served in the Army from 1960-1962 including 1 year in France. He married Anna Marlena Schraut in 1967. He started employment at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals in 1963, where he was a production manager all the way to his retirement in 1995, when he then moved to Ormond Beach, Florida.
His wife passed away in 2008 and they are survived by 3 children, Martha Damiani (Donald), Arnold Kump (Dana) and Marianne Thompson (Chris). He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Nicholas, Anthony, Andrew, Nathan (Allison), Ashley, Justin, Sara, and Frasier; and 1 great grandchild Liam. He is also survived by 1 brother Erwin Kump (Irena) and his longtime companion Barbara Murphy.
Arnold loved spending time with his family; he enjoyed coaching Little League Baseball in addition to playing, coaching and refereeing soccer. He was a member of the Riviera Country Club where he played golf several times a week. He enjoyed cruising and traveling to places such as Las Vegas.
A visitation will be held on Friday, July 29, at 10:30 am -12:00 pm at the Lohman Funeral Home Daytona Chapel, 1423 Bellevue Ave, Daytona Beach, Florida. Also on July 29, a Funeral Mass will be conducted at 1:00 pm at St. Brendan's Church, 1000 Ocean Shore Blvd, Ormond Beach, Florida. Burial will follow at Daytona Memorial Park, 1425 Bellevue Ave, Daytona Beach.
