Arlene Norris , 101, of Daytona Beach went to her eternal home to be with her Lord on February 14, 2020, passing away peacefully at Halifax Hospice in Port Orange. She was the last of 15 children born to Emma Iseley and Joseph Furrer on October 4, 1918 in Shullsburg, Wisconsin. She was the widow of the late Herbert Norris and is survived by her only son, Russell Norris and his wife, Joan of port Orange. Arlene is also survived by her beloved grandchildren; Paul Norris and his wife, Nikki of St Augustine and Aaron Norris and his wife, Angelica of Colorado. She had one darling great-grandson, Rowan Norris. Her grandchildren were the lights of her life.

Arlene's love of her church was an outstanding example to her family and friends. In her younger years, she was very active as a choir member, a Sunday School teacher and in Lutheran Women's groups. She was a former member of Christ the king lutheran Church and Hope Lutheran Church in Daytona as well as All Saints Lutheran Church in Port Orange. She was most recently a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Smyrna Beach.

Arlene loved to sing and play the piano. She sang as a soloist at many weddings for family and friends and volunteered to play the piano at The Good Samaritan Society.

She worked as a telephone operator as a young adult, saving her pennies to buy a piano that she loved so much. Arlene also worked at Lenox Elementary School serving lunches to hungry children and as a receptionist at Halifax Hospital, which she retired from in 1978 to help take care of her first grandchild.

When she was 21, Arlene, her sisters and their mother bought an old school bus and remodeled it for an adventure to the West. For several months the women traveled far and enjoyed the sights of many states. She called this their "Daisy Trip", and spoke of the many times they had to get out and push the bus when it was stuck while their mom sat in her rocking chair! She also traveled to Europe several times, meeting her distant cousins for the first time and visiting Switzerland where her father was born. She visited Ireland and kissed the Blarney Stone, which she was so proud of, claiming it really did give her the gift of gab!

A Celebration of Life will be held at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church on Turnbull Bay in New Smyrna Beach on Monday, February 24, 2020 at 1:00 pm with Internment to follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery (Daytona Memorial Park) in Daytona Beach.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2020 from 3:00 - 5:00 pm at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona at 1423 Bellevue Rd in Daytona Beach.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to either Halifax Hospice of Port Orange or to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Smyrna Beach.
