Obituary

Arlene M. Cook

Well done, my good & faithful servant.

A wife, mother, Grandma & Nana… Arlene M. (Hannan) Cook of Lake Mary, FL passed
peacefully into her eternal life on Wed., April 28, 2021, at home with her loving husband and
daughter by her side. Arlene was 90 at the time of her death. Born on August 10, 1930 in
Bridgeport, CT, Arlene was the daughter of Arthur C & Alice M. Hannan. She spent her
childhood years growing up in Stratford, CT, attending local schools. After high school
graduation, Arlene Hannan attended Russell Sage College in Troy, NY, pursuing a degree in
Home Economics. She excelled as a seamstress, chef, & domestic engineer, which caught the
attention of another engineer, Ed Cook, aka Bud, who was a junior at Rensselaer Polytechnic
Institute, also located in Troy, NY. Two years later after Bud's graduation, and conversion to
Catholicism, Arlene and Bud married, thus beginning what would become a lifelong
commitment to each other and their faith.

Arlene supported & followed Bud's educational & professional career as an ultrasonic engineer
& business owner, making every house they lived in a home based on faith & family,
successfully raising 5 children along the way. In addition to her responsibilities as the heart of
the home, she was an avid NY Yankee fan during baseball season, and loyal fan of UConn
Women's basketball & Villanova Men's basketball when the Yankees weren't playing. Additional
interests and activities included playing tennis, golf, duplicate bridge and frequent travels with
Bud , for business & pleasure.

When her years as project manager of the home ended, Arlene's greatest joys came with the
title of Grandma, being the consummate hands on and welcoming Grandma that every child
wants & needs. Her happiest years were spent entertaining her grandchildren at Grandma's
Lake House on Candlewood Lake in New Milford, CT. Her golden years of retirement with Ed
were spent as snow birds between Vero Beach, FL & CT. Years later, they became permanent,
year long residents of Florida, enjoying year round tennis & golf, entertaining the grandkids who
visited frequently and attending daily Mass.

Arlene gained a new title, Nana,as the great grandchildren were added to her family tree. She
was often caught proudly bragging about each new arrival! It was at these times , Arlene
flashed her biggest smiles. Nana recognized her "Greats" till the very end!
Survivors of Arlene include her faithful husband of 70+ years, Edward G.Cook of Lake Mary, FL.
