Obituary

Anthony Vito Petrone Jr. (Happy Hap Jake) Surrounded by his family in Port Orange FL went to be with the Lord on May 22 2011. A visitation will be held on Thursday May 26th 2011 at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona 1423 Bellevue Ave. Daytona Beach FL 32114 from 6pm until 8pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday May 27 2011 at 1pm in the Chapel of Lohman Funeral Home Daytona. Burial will immediately follow at Daytona Memorial Park Cemetery. Born June 13 1922 in Princeton New Jersey to Anthony and Mary he was the 11th of 13 children. He met his wife Bertha Dorothy Wyckoff at a post war dance following WWII. They married February 8 1947. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1946 in the South Pacific as a Heavy Machinery Mechanic. At 24 years old he purchased a 1940 Harley Motorcycle that he loved. He drove Ford Pick-up's and Cadillac's until 2009. He operated a cement mixer during the 1950's and 60's while living and raising his family in New Jersey helping to lay the New Jersey Turnpike. He visited and lived in Florida on and off until his permanent move here in 1974. He operated his own concrete and masonry business during the 70's and 80's. He worked for the City of Port Orange for more than 15 years maintaining the All Children's Park in Port Orange until his retirement in 2007. He enjoyed fishing at the Sunglow Pier and in Ponce Inlet and New Smyrna. He enjoyed having morning coffee at McDonalds with his friends and hanging out at the old Shell Station at Nova and Dunlawton. He is pre deceased by his wife of 56 years. He is survived by his sister Sylvia Ross of Skillman N.J.; his daughters Sharon Lynn Petrone Westlake of South Daytona FL and Vicki Sue Paladino of Belford N.J.; Sharon's Children his grandchildren Tracy Lynn Shaw Tammy Lynn Coker January Lynn Monday Stefanie Lynn Cabana and Samantha Lynn Smith; and his great grandchildren Johnathan Anthony Shaw Kenneth Charles (K.C.) Shaw Jaclynn Dorothy Shaw Cheyenne Lynn Shephard Connor Monday Cadence Lynn Cabana Michael Neil Surmiak and Thomas Neil Surmiak.
