Funeral services for Anna Pauline Skees 93 of Holly Hill FL who passed away Friday March 25 will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday March 30th at Baggett and Summers Funeral Home with Pastor Austin Brinkerhoff officiating. Calling hours will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday March 29 also at Baggett and Summers Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Resthaven Memorial Cemetery Louisville KY.
Anna Pauline Skees born October 22 1911 in Hopkinsville KY where she resided until the age of 5 when her father was transferred first to Jackson TN and then to Louisville KY. Louisville was Ms. Skees home until she and her mother Ora Witty Skees moved to Holly Hill FL in 1959.
Ms. Skees graduated from the class of the Louisville Girls High School in 1928. She was Secretary to the Merchandising Manager of Stewart''''s the largest department store in Louisville for 9 years. Stewart''''s was part of the Lord and Taylor chain. Ms. Skees then worked as a secretary to the tobacco leaf buyer for Brown and Williamson Tobacco Corp for 19 years. After relocating to Holly Hill in 1959 Ms. Skees became a legal secretary to Alfred A. Green Sr. and upon his death continued to wrok for his son Alfred A. Green Jr. for 33 years until his death.
In 1976 after the death of her mother Ms. Skees joined Highlands Presbyterian Church. She was active in the choir and volunteering in the church office until she had to curtail some of her activities. In spite of failing eyesight Ms. Skees maintained her own home and an independent lifestyle with her constant companion her Miniature Schnauzer ""Pepper until her passing.
Ms. Skees also served as a Senator in Area 4 for the Florida Silver Haired Legislature. She also served as the FHSL State Membership Manager Legislative Session Manager Membership Database Manager and Assistant Editor of the FSHL directory.
Ms. Skees is survived by nephews Carl M. Skees Birmingham AL; Colonel Ben Skees DMD Snead AL; an nieces Wanda Skees Caster Louisville KY and Judy Skees Thead of Selma AL.
