Ann Carol Fontenot
Ann Fontenot was born Anna Rothermel (1928) in the small Bavarian town of Weissenhorn ,Germany. About 14 miles from Ulm, Germany which was the birthplace of Albert Einstein.
Her mother died from tuberculosis (TB) and she was raised by her grandmother. She was married to Gerhardt Sauer and had two children. Her baby boy died of TB and her daughter, Brigitte, was born in 1950 in the same Bavarian town. Ann divorced her husband and re-married an Air Force enlisted man named Joseph Fontenot who became the step- father to Brigitte.
She and her daughter relocated with Mr. Fontenot to the United States in 1960 and lived at an AFB near Duncanville, Texas. She was divorced and moved with her daughter to Dallas, Texas where she was hired for many jobs that included sales and marketing. They involved the fields of insurance, TV advertising, and cosmetics. She often mentioned she thought she was sometimes hired because of her European/German accent and that she looked like Zsa Zsa Gabor.
After stints working for such companies as Diane von Furstenberg, Frances Denney, Max Factor, Scandia, she became a National Sales Manager at the beauty and skin care products company named Clientele. She successfully grew the company to a million in sales and managed stores across the country.
She moved to Melbourne Florida (SunTree area) to retire but kept working for Clientele until 2008.
Ann loved conversation and discussing politics, psychology, and world events. She often accompanied Brigitte and her husband to coffee shops where she could listen to and engage in discussions with other coffee aficionados. She loved animals (especially cats) and owned several throughout her life. She especailly loved to go see the Lions at the Brevard Zoo.
She attended church regularly at Ascension Catholic until St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church was built and became a member of that church.
Ann is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Stacy Strickland.
