Anita M. Shultz, 97, of Port Orange, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026.
Born on January 17, 1929, in Dayton, Anita lived a life centered on faith, family, and service to others. She attended the University of Dayton, where she formed lifelong values that guided her throughout her years.
On August 12, 1950, she married William D. Shultz, beginning a devoted partnership that spanned decades. In 1998, they moved from Pennsylvania to Florida, where Anita embraced retirement surrounded by sunshine, friends, and family.
Anita was a loving mother to Leslie Shultz Hamvay (George) of Port Orange and Dr. Eric Shultz (Carolyn) of Jacksonville. She was a proud grandmother to G. Matthew Hamvay of Land O’Lakes; Emily Hamvay Robins of Half Moon Bay; Major (S) Cody Shultz of Fort Walton Beach; and Elke Shultz of Chicago. She was also blessed with six cherished great-grandchildren: Tyler and Trent Hamvay; Nolan and Penny Robins; and Grayson and Bellamy Shultz.
Affectionately known as “Gigi,” Anita was the heart of her family — a steady, nurturing presence who gave generously of her time and love. She enjoyed golfing, cooking meals for those she loved, tending her garden, and traveling. Her kindness, grace, and quiet strength touched everyone who knew her.
A Mass and Celebration of Life will be held on April 17, 2026, at Our Lady of Hope Church. Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m., with condolences received before and after the service. Burial services with follow reception at Daytona Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to one of her favorite charities, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in honor of Anita’s memory.
Anita’s life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and she will be deeply missed.
