Obituary

Anita Dawn Cheves (Meadows), age 63, of Orange City, Florida, passed away at home surrounded by family on February 2, 2026.

She was born on November 30, 1962, in Winter Park, Florida and was a lifelong Florida resident.

Anita will be remembered as a loving and caring woman who was a force of nature and lived life on her own terms. She was known for her unwavering dedication and had a heart that knew no bounds. She devoted her life to nurturing others, often putting the needs of family and friends far above her own.

Those who knew her will remember her beautiful smile and warm nature, her amazing Southern-style collard greens, creamy cherry cheesecake, and the sweet, old-fashioned hard candy she always made around the holidays.

She found joy and peace in gardening, diamond art, and visiting family in the beautiful Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia. Anita loved her children and grandchildren deeply and took great pride in each of them. She loved her dog, Noah, like family, finding comfort and unconditional love in his companionship, and he was rarely far from her side.

For over 12 years, Anita worked as an Assembly Technician II in the Electrical Assembly Department at Teledyne Marine. She took great pride in her work, and her dedication was evident to all who worked alongside her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Meadows Sr.; her mother, Betty Sims Peacock; her stepmother, Betty Farley Meadows; and her sisters, Karen Turner and Margaret Bryd.

She is survived by her daughter, Sabrina Cheves; her son, Ron Cheves, and his wife Katrina; her brothers Michael and Jack; her sister Terri; six grandchildren, Aliya, Jasmine, Ariyana, Preston, Katelyn, and Destiny; three bonus step grandchildren, Jordan, Hailey, and Addyson; and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved deeply. At Anita's request, no formal services will be held at this time; a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, with details to be announced by the family.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Lohman Funeral Home, DeLand Chapel, Florida.
