Obituary

Andrew L. Sorge 79 of Daytona Beach Shores died on January 19 2007. He was born on June 11 1927 to the late Achille and Mildred Sorge in Scranton Pennsylvania. He enlisted in the US Army where he proudly served during WWII and the Korean Conflict in 1008 Combat Eng. Batallion 7th Army. Andrew also was an avid boxer and while in service for his country he won the welterweight championship in Fort McCullum Alabama. Along with his passion for boxing he shared as deep an interest in hunting. He was employed by the Department of United States Air Force as a civil servant where he worked as a supervisor until retiring after 38 years. Andrew was a member of a rare breed. He had a sense of humor charm and a big heart that earned him many life-long friends. He was loved greatly and will be sorely missed by everyone who got to know him even a little. He leaves to cherish his memories his daughters Rebecca Stegman of Delmar NY and Heidi Niemetz of Whitesboro NY; brothers Achille Sorge Jr. and Paul Sorge both of Scranton PA; 3 nieces 1 nephew 1 great nephew six grandchildren two great grandchildren and numerous dear friends including: Lou Rachel Mark Rich Jack and many many others. Our lives have been tremendously impacted just by knowing him. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years Judy and also by his brother Robert.
