Amanda Christina (Whyte) O'Connor, affectionately called "Bibi", was born on August 9, 1923 to Theresa Anderson and Peter Whyte in Jamaica, West Indies. As a child, she loved learning and excelled in mathematics. She also loved to sing and sang in the adult choir as a child. Amanda was a girl guide in an organization similar to the Girl Scouts and was proud of it. Amanda immigrated to the United States in February 1968 and resided in Hartford, Connecticut. She was employed as a housekeeper for the Institute of Living. As a single mother, she worked hard to provide for her three sons; Terrence, Kester and Stephen. She was a member of the Faith Seventh-day Adventist Church in Hartford, CT where she served as a deaconess, and a member of the sanctuary choir. In 1989, shortly after retiring from the Institute of Living, she moved to Palm Coast, Florida where is joined the mission and was one of the charter members of what is now Palm Coast Seventh-day Adventist Church. She faithfully served in whatever capacity she was needed. On July 24, 2018, Amanda went to sleep in the Lord. She is survived by her sons; Terrence O'Connor (Yvette) of Palm Coast, Florida, Kester Greene, Sr. of Jamaica, West Indies and Stephen Carter of Sugar Hill, Georgia; two grandchildren, Latisha (Greene) Smith of Springfield, Massachusetts; four great-grandchildren, a sister, Lillian Lynch of Jamaica, West Indies, brothers; Bertram Webley (Dorett) of London, England, Seymour Webley (Joy) of Jamaica, West Indies, and Lescel Webley, Sr. (Lillie) of Clermont, Florida, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; Theresa Anderson and Peter Whyte and three brothers; Noel Anderson, Manley Webley, and Arnold Webley Amanda will be greatly missed by all.
