Alvin J. Hartman passed away Sunday September 16, 2018 at Florida Memorial Hospital, DeLand FL. He was born in Wadsworth, Medina Co., Ohio on April 21, 1923 to the late Charles and Lulu (Furry) Hartman.

Mr. Hartman graduated from Wadsworth High School in 1941 and promptly enlisted in the Army Air Corps, which would become known as "The Mighty Eighth Air Force". While based in Mildenhall, England he earned six Bronze Stars. On Dec. 8, 1944, he was united in marriage with Patricia Phipps of Cambridge, England who was with him as he passed away. Mr. Hartman was baptized into the Lutheran Faith.

Having loved music al of his life, he was an accomplished Banjo player. He retired from Pfizer as a tool maker.

A granddaughter, Linda Moore, predeceased him. He is survived by his wife Patricia (Phipps) Hartman, his son Barry (Joann) Hartman, his daughter Elaine (Jim) Cunningham of Lakeland Fl, four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will gather Friday, September 21, 2018 at 11:30 am for a visitation and service  at Lohman Funeral Home DeLand , 935  E. New York Ave.  Burial will follow at DeLand Memorial Gardens.
