CARTER, Althea

November 22, 1932 – May 16, 2021

Althea D. Carter, 88, of South Daytona, Florida, entered the gates of heaven for eternal life on Sunday May 16, 2021 at her residence surrounded by members of her loving family.  Althea was born on November 22, 1932 in Orlando, Florida to the late William Wayne Canine, Sr. and Shellie Belle (Robertson) Canine.  Althea moved to the Daytona Beach area at the age of six and then moved to South Daytona in 1966.  Althea graduated from Mainland High School in 1950 and attended Mary Karl Vocational School.  She was a homemaker until she became a partner in a local salon, "The Hair Shack".  She was also an original owner and bookkeeper of "C & C Power Tools" in Daytona Beach until she sold it to her daughter and son-in-law.  She remained there as a bookkeeper until she retired in 2020.

She enjoyed bowling and word games, but her greatest joy in life was the love of  her children and her grandchildren.  Her family was her life!!!

Survivors include her five children, Cynthia (Don) Helms of Hampstead, NC, Wendy (Jim) Taylor of Clermont, FL, Donna (Steve) Lamkin of Guyton, GA, Janice (Jay) Wilbanks of South Daytona, FL and Greg Carter of South Daytona, FL;  seven grandchildren, Jeff Helms, Matthew Helms, Darcy McMenamin, Wesley Taylor, Brandon Lamkin, Jessica Cheely and Greg Lamkin;  and nine great-grandchildren.

The family is accepting flowers as Althea loved flowers.

A Visitation will be held from 10:00am until 11:00am on Friday May 21, 2021 in the Chapel at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona, 1423 Bellevue Avenue, Daytona Beach, Florida 32114.  The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am also on Friday May 21, 2021 in the Chapel at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona.  Interment will follow in Daytona Memorial Park, 1425 Bellevue Avenue, Daytona Beach, Florida.
