A private ceremony for Alta 83 of Ormond Beach will be held by her family.
Alta died on September 20 2007 at Bishop's Glen Nursing Home Holly Hill. Surviving her are 2 sons Frank Schmidt Herndon VA Haywood and his wife Carol and 2 grandchildren Carlton and Cameron Winchester MA. Alta was born March 9 1924 in Wilson NC. She was a graduate of Peace College Raleigh NC. Alta worked with the Philosophy and Religion Department at Swarthmore College Philadelphia PA. She moved to Florida in 1987 where she enjoyed tennis golf and being near the ocean. Alta took a keen interest in environmental issues and helping others; she will be deeply missed. Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Ormond.
