Obituary

Alma Black Ubbens, passed away Sunday, August 2nd in Daytona Beach,Fl. Born in Dalton, Pa. in 1923, she later moved to New York with her family,and graduated from Sherburne High School, Sherburne, N.Y. Alma then attended The Beaux Art School of Beauty Culture in Syracuse, New York, and upon her graduation in 1945, began her career as a beautician and would continue to work her art for the next 70 years. Alva was quite active in the community with membership in the D.A.R/S.A.R, working with the Genealogic Society, Habitat for Humanity, Seabreeze United Church, and many other volunteer organizations and projects in the Daytona Beach area. Those left behind to cherish Alva's memory are her husband, Edwin, her son Bruce Ubbens, Daughters, Vicki (John) Liso, and Caryl Ubbens. A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, August 8th, at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona beginning at 1 p.m..
