Allayne Marguerite Whitcomb, 85, of Ormond Beach, Florida, passed away at home on October 22, 2017.

She was much loved by her family, including her two daughters and their husbands, Janice M. and Jeffrey D. DuFour, of Hopewell, New Jersey and Joanne M. and Michael Pecca, of Cohasset, Massachusetts; four grandchildren, Andrew W. Mahon, Michael W. Pecca (and wife Elaine M.), Camilla C.S. Mahon and Thomas J. Pecca, as well as a newborn great granddaughter, Natalie M. Pecca. She was predeceased by her only brother, Wilton A. Whitcomb, Jr., of Newport, Vermont and Ormond Beach, Florida. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Catherine Whitcomb; three nephews, Wilton A. Whitcomb, III, Joseph Whitcomb, Preston Whitcomb; one niece, Carla Litchfield; and four cousins, Nancy Anderson, Wendy Anderson, Joan Harvey, and Thomas Harvey.

Allayne was born in Boston, Massachusetts, to Wilton Alonzo and Marguerite (Smith) Whitcomb on December 26, 1931. She grew up in Hingham, Massachusetts and graduated from Hingham High School in 1949 and Katherine Gibbs College. After several years in Connecticut and Rhode Island, Allayne returned to Hingham to raise her two daughters. Allayne spent most of her career as a legal secretary, including at Goodwin, Proctor & Hoar; Choate, Hall & Stewart; and Cohen & Burg of Boston. She then worked as a Judicial Secretary to Judge Neil L. Lynch of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. After retiring to Ormond Beach, Florida, Allayne worked with the Ormond Beach Presbyterian Church as the Church Secretary.

Allayne was an extremely devoted and loving mother and grandmother. She was a wonderful homemaker, and loved to interior decorate, cook, and garden. Truly generous of heart, she had a smile for everyone and a wonderful sense of humor. She loved to tell stories and doted on her feline companion, CG (short for Clark Gable). Allayne was a longstanding member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

A religious service and remembrance, to be attended by family and close friends, will be held in Massachusetts. Burial will be at the family gravesite at Old Ship Church Cemetery, in Hingham, Massachusetts.
