Schmidl Allan Roger 59 of Port Orange passed away at his home on Tuesday May 25th 2010. A celebration of life service is scheduled for 7:00 pm Monday June 7th 2010 with a gathering of friends beginning at 6:30 pm at the chapel of Lohman Funeral Home Port Orange (1201 Dunlawton Ave. Port Orange). A ceremony with military honors at Jacksonville National Cemetery will be held at a later date. Allan was born and raised in New Jersey the son of Joseph and Dorothy Schmidl. He married Carol in 1972 and they moved to Florida in 1973. Allan graduated from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and worked at the Daytona Beach International Airport for 32 years until his retirement. Allan enjoyed boating fishing traveling and telling jokes and stories. Left to cherish their memories together of their lives are his wife Carol Schmidl; his mother Dorothy Meimre of Fairfield NJ; his brothers Gregory Schmidl of Fairfield NJ and Eric Schmidl (Laura) of Odgensburg NJ; and his sister Lea Leccese (Paul) of San Diego CA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the ERAU Alumni Scholarship Fund (800-362-9285) or to the Salvation Army East Volusia-Homeless fund (386-236-2020 ext 211).
