Dr. Allan Hamid Nejat, MD, FCCP, age 94 of Holly Hill slept away on Tuesday May 3, 2005 at Bishops Glen in Holly Hill. Graveside Service will be held at Daytona Memorial Park on Monday May 9, 2005 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Bob Moorehead officiating.

Dr. Nejat was born January 1, 1911 to Memi and Nami Nejat in Tehran, Persia. He is a native of Iran. He attended the University of Paris in 1929, graduating in 1935.He was also stationed in Helena where he worked for NASA. Dr. Nejat first practiced medicine in his native land, specializing in chest diseases, especially tuberculosis. From 1935 to 1944 he served as head of the health department of Tehran. He was on the staff of B.S. Pollack Hospital of the Jersey City Medical center, St. Francis Hospital, Mother Cabrini, and Kingston Avenue Hospital in New York City.

In 1950, Dr. Nejat won a scholarship from the Brooklyn, NY Tuberculosis Association and was sent to Trudeau Sanatorium at Saranac, NY, for Post Graduate work in Tuberculosis. He is a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians, a member of National Tuberculosis Association, and the New York and Florida Trudeau Societies.

In his earlier years he was selected to attend the Third International Congress of Diseases of the Chest as a delegate of the American College of Chest Physicians. This Congress was held in Barcelona, Spain. Dr. Nejat came to the Southwest Florida TB Hospital, as a member of the staff in December of 1953as an admitting physician in charge of Ward 4-C.

After Coming to Florida from New York, in which was his first American home, he now has sand in his shoes, and decided to make Tampa, which he has learned to love his permanent Home. Dr. Nejat has been very successful in helping his patients on admission to make the necessary adjustments to hospital life. All of his patients looked upon him as their good friend and advisor.

Despite his commitment to medicine, he devoted his energies to playing chess, in which he defeated a well known Bulgarian Champion. He was a master mason of Lodge# 314 under the jurisdiction of the Grand lodge of Florida is an affiliated member of Lodge Light in Iran#1191 as it appears as an authentic documents in the hands of our secretary.

He enjoyed traveling, and was an elite Republican. He did lots of work overseas during WWII. Knowing seven different languages he was talented and gifted, I guess you can call him an Einstein back in his day. We miss you and love you Doc. So long until we meet again.

He is preceded in death by wife.He is survived by a good friend, Barry Hatcher, Holly Hill, and all who knew him.
