Alice H. Schleucher, 96, of Ormond Beach, Florida passed away peacefully on Monday, October 29, 2018 at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center, Daytona Beach, Florida. Alice was born July 18, 1922 in Cleveland, Ohio to Charles and Gertrude (VanSickle) Hollman.   She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Janet McVey and Margery Gould; by her husband of 72 years, Paul; and by her oldest daughter, Sarah (Sally) Traul. Alice is survived by two daughters, Nancy Provenzano (Robert) of Ormond Beach and Susan Carroll (Tom) of Davidson, NC and  by her son-in-law, Robert Traul of Ormond Beach, FL.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great, great grandchild. Alice met her future husband, Paul Schleucher in Cleveland, OH.  They were married in 1941.  A month later Paul was drafted into the U.S. Army.  Alice, Paul, and daughter, Sally lived in Aberdeen, Maryland until the end of WWII.  After the war, they moved to Findlay, OH where they lived and raised their three daughters.  Alice worked for many years as Office Manager for Macy's Department Store (formerly LaSalle's) in downtown Findlay.  She enjoyed music, square dancing and dancing to Big Band music, playing bridge, attending St. Paul's Church, cooking, sewing, and she was an avid reader.  Alice and Paul loved Florida and after their daughters were grown, they spent many happy winter vacations there with the Provenzano family. After they retired, Alice and Paul lived in Parachute, CO briefly, then in Fairfield Glade, TN where they became involved in the community.  Alice continued to work for several years in the local gift store and sang in the church choir.  In 2002, Alice and Paul moved to Galena Territory, IL where they had an apartment in the home of their daughter Sally and husband, Bob. In 2014, after Paul passed away, Alice moved to Ormond Beach, FL where she lived with her daughter, Nancy (Bob).  She then moved to Ormond in the Pines in Ormond Beach, FL where she helped start a book club. We will remember Alice with love as the tall, capable woman with the quirky sense of humor, who never exercised a day in her life yet lived for 96 years. The family thanks Alice's companion, Jeanne Ellis for her gifts of friendship and care over the past two years. A Service of Remembrance will be celebrated at a later date.
