Alfred Lewis Whiting, 91 of Ormond Beach, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Coquina Center, Ormond Beach. A "Celebration of Life" will be held on Friday, February 28th at 7 pm at Lohman Funeral Home, 733 W. Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services.

Alfred was a machinist in the wiring industry. Upon his retirement in 1980, he and his wife Grace relocated from Winsted, Connecticut and called Volusia County their home. He was a member of the VFW in Connecticut, enjoyed fishing and spending time with his model trains. Alfred served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He is survived by his daughter, Karen Roy and her husband Guilio of Ormond Beach, her two sons, Gary Whiting and his wife, Laurie of Palm Coast, Florida, and Allan "Al" Whiting and his wife, Debra of Ormond Beach, a sister Sylvia Goodrow and her husband, William of Ormond Beach, as well as nine grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Alfred was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Grace Whiting in 2008.
