Alfred A. Szemborski
80 Years
March 10, 1936 - May 3, 2016
My Dear Al,
I am writing today May 4, 2016 on our 30th wedding anniversary and you died yesterday. You were born in Detroit, Michigan, attended Riverside Military College, then going on to graduate with a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering from The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. When we met you owned and operated the two Daytona Inns in Daytona Beach, Florida. You sat on the HAAA Board and were a powerful driving force in the Florida Hotel and Motel Association. You have left a legacy as I follow in your footsteps. The Peabody Auditorium will miss your smile and laughter as Daytona State College also misses their chemistry and math professor.
Al, you leave behind the two daughters you adored, Susan Burkett and Karen Ann Szemborski; along with your step-children Michael Duenas, Billy Duenas, Paul Duenas, Polly Duenas Velez and Maryellen Willis Parks - their spouses and 16 grandchildren: Jillian, Kendall, Morgan, Jordan, Hillary, Alex, Richard, Amanda, Jonathon, Ashley, Noah, Marcus, Justin, Rebecca, Amber, and Cody; four great-grandchildren: Haley, Avery, Lily, and Peyton. Most of all you leave behind many friends who loved you and "me" - your wife, lover and friend whom you laughed with, cried with and shared your last 30 years with -Karen Willis Duenas Szemborski.
We were blessed with our love and togetherness!
Visitation will be held at Lohman Funeral Home, 733 W Granada Blvd., Ormond Beach on Friday May 6, 2016 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am at St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church with Rev. Tom Barrett as Celebrant.
Additional condolences may be left for the family at this online guestbook.
