Obituary

Alex Thomas Urchuk, 82 years old of Port Orange passed away peacefully at Halifax Hospice on June 18, 2016. He was born on August 17, 1933 in Newark, New Jersey the son of the late Thomas and Mary (Kushnir) Urchuk.
Alex was a Sec. Lt. in the Air Force and was discharged in 1958. Afterwards he flew in commercial aviation for 35 years, the last 29 years as a Captain with American Airlines. He spent a majority of his life in New Jersey and moved to Florida in 1995. Alex enjoyed flying, golf, tennis, telling jokes and making people smile. He was a member of Holy Dormition Catholic Church, The Knights of Columbus and the Quiet Birdmen, to name a few.
Alex was preceded in death by his loving wife Margaret of 51 years. He is survived by his sister Olga (John) Motuz, a brother Tommy, and sons Alex Jr. and wife Jana, and Michael and wife Lisa, five grandchildren, and a one great grandchild.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Vincent Brady at Holy Dormition Byzantine Church 17 Buckskin Lane, Ormond Beach on Friday June 24, 2016 at 11:00 AM., a viewing will take place on Thursday June 23, 2016 from 5-8 PM. at the Lohman Funeral Home 1201 Dunlawton Ave Port Orange, With a prayer service at 7:00 PM with Rev Brady.
