A. Joseph Vohlers 85 of Palm Coast Florida passed away at his home on Tuesday July 13 2010. A memorial service will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church on Tuesday July 20 2010 at 10:30am.

Born December 17 1924 in Willoughby Ohio to John and Teresa (Clair) Vohlers he relocated to Palm Coast in 1987. During the depression Joe worked as a pin-setter caddie road work laborer and factory worker while still attending high school. Despite the work Joe earned excellent grades in high school and was admitted to the National Honor Society and elected class president while starring in baseball and setting records in football that stood for years as his team's quarterback. When Joe's country needed him he volunteered for duty at the age of 16 but had to wait until he completed his senior year. He served in the Marine Corps for four years mostly in the South Pacific operating one of the Marines' first radar units. After graduation Joe married his beloved life-long love and friend Margaret Schmitt and raised four loving kids. After graduating from Ohio State and working for GM (General Motors) he built homes for thirty years serving as president of some companies after beginning his career laying block and operating bulldozers among other jobs. When illness struck Joe continued to fight as he had all his life out of love for those he loved. He battled a debilitating disease for seven years he never complained and remained always devoted to his family who respected and loved him very much much more then word can express. Joe is survived by the love of his life and wife of 62 years Margaret Vohlers children Susan Bleyl Bill (Hillary) and Ric (Dianne) grandchildren Greta Ryan Megan Logan Aaron Elissa Robbie and Annie. Joe will be greeted in heaven by his son Bob (Martha) and Grandson Joe... by his brother and sister Jack and Wynnie his parents Jack and Teresa and his many friends and family members.
