A Memorial Service for Albert M. Hager Jr. age 82 of Ormond Beach FL died Friday July 1 2005 in Ormond Beach FL will be held 4:00pm Thursday July 7 2005 in the chapel of Lohman Funeral Home Ormond with Father Joe Maher as officiant. Albert was born June 26 1923 in Winter Park FL to Albert M. and Hazel Bryan Hager Sr. He was a resident of Ormond Beach since 1949 when he moved here from Bowling Green OH. He graduated from Boone High School in Orlando. Mr. Hager enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1943 where he trained as a flight engineer for B-24 and B-29 aircraft. Albert took part in 50 missions as a Flight Engineer on board B-24?s. He served as a 2nd Lieutenant Infantry in the National Guard based in Daytona Beach from 1951 until 1961. After the war Albert lived in Arizona and then moved to Ohio where he had a private detective/security agency. Upon Mr. Hager?s arrival to Daytona Beach in 1949 he began his employment with the News Journal as a printer where both his father and two uncles were printers until their retirements. Mr. Hager worked at the News Journal for 34 years before retiring in 1984 as the Department Head for the Composing Room. He was a member of the Ormond Beach Lodge #326 F & AM and was also a 32nd degree Mason. He was also an active member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary in the 1970?s and also served as Operations Officer. He enjoyed Boating Fishing Scuba Diving Golfing Reading and his grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Ronald Hager. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Ella 2 sons; Rick Hager and his wife Joan of Daytona Beach FL and Albert Hager II and his wife Tina of Burke VA 2 daughters; Ellen Wiedenbauer and her husband Tom of Ormond Beach FL and Judith Anger and her husband Ken of Ocala FL a sister Evelyn McDaniel of Panama City FL 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
