Lani LaMee 64 died peacefully on November 30 2009 after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Born February 18 1945 in Manhattan New York to A. Allen Thomson and Joe Mayhall Thomson she was brought up in Scarsdale New York where she developed a love for the violin. She later graduated from Scarsdale High School where she enjoyed choral singing. Lani attended The University of California at Berkeley where she made many lifelong friends through the Delta Delta Delta sorority and gained a passion for humanities books and foreign travel graduating in 1967. After extensive travels through Europe she met the love of her life Pat in San Juan Puerto Rico and they were very soon married in 1971. She cherished her many adventures and friends made there and gave birth to her first child Adam. After traveling the U.S. by camper she and her family settled in Ormond Beach in 1980 and soon adopted Amy. Lani loved raising her children and became involved in PTA from the start of their schooling eventually taking on the presidency for two terms and volunteered at the Osceola Elementary School library until her health failed her. She also sang for many years with the Daytona Beach Sweet Adeline's. Lani recently became interested in genealogy and was president of the Halifax Genealogical Society for two terms. She took great joy in seeing her daughter get married two weeks earlier and is survived by her husband Pat; son Adam; daughter Amy; sister Lynn Thomson of San Antonio Texas; and many loving family members and friends. Lani knew that she was loved by all who met her and was at peace with the difference she made during her wonderful life. There will be no memorial service at her request and the family requests consideration of a donation to the "Alane Thomson LaMee Endowment Scholarship" at Daytona State College.
