Aida L. Melendez Fernandez, 74, passed away July 4, 2025. She was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico on September 24, 1951 to Angel Fernandez Figueroa and Carmen Recondo.

Aida was a home health care nurse who spent many years caring for others. Being the daughter of a military man, she lived in several states and counties, including New Jersey, France, Germany, Kentucky, and New York. She spoke fluent German, Spanish, and English. While attending night school, she met George and fell in love. In 1974, they married, and spent fifty years married. Aida loved to cook for her family and friends, and she found great joy and peace in her faith. She spent seven years as a foster parent, lovingly being a foster mom to twenty children over those years.

A visitation for Aida will be held at Lohman Funeral Home on Monday, July 14, 2025 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. A funeral service will begin at 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, followed by a graveside service at Deltona Memorial Gardens.

Aida's family requests that any prayers or donations be directed to her husband, George.
