Adele Dearstyne Peek
Adele Dearstyne Peek 95 went to be with our Lord on July 23 2009 after a long courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease at Summerville Assisted Living Facility in Port Orange. A graveside service is scheduled for Monday July 27th at 10:30 am at Daytona Memorial Park.
Adele was born July 9 1914 to Fred and Signe Schiffmacher in Brooklyn NY. The family moved to Florida in 1950 and Adele spent most of her career as a property manager in the real estate field. The family was also involved in other Florida businesses including owning several shrimp boats the Niagara Motor Lodge in New Smyrna Beach and other properties.
Adele enjoyed attending church services at White Chapel Church in Daytona Beach and was a loyal member of The Eastern Star Lodge Daytona #1. She was an avid animal lover. She will be fondly remembered as someone who always put others before herself and for her dedicated love for her family.
Adele was married to William Dearstyne for 25 years who predeceased her. Survivors include her children: Gail and her husband; Damon Settle of Huntsville AL; William and his wife; Carol Dearstyne of Bradenton FL; and Jill Rotne and her companion; Pete Freeman of Port Orange. Also surviving are her six grandchildren whom she loved dearly and enjoyed spending time with: Steven Settle David Settle Shannon Nida Adrienne Dube Erica Dearstyne and William "Billy" Rotne. Six great-grandchildren. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.
